Günter-Strack-Fernsehpreis
(‘Günter Strack Television Prize’)Each year two young, up-and-coming actors/actresses are honoured with the “Günter Strack Television Prize” within the framework of the Studio Hamburg “Nachwuchspreis” (‘Prize for Up-And-Coming Talent’) in order to pave the way for them while moving from theory into practice.
Actors and actresses from the television productions of that year who are at least 21 and at the most 30 years old at the time of the awards ceremony can receive this prize. In cases displaying due cause, the jury can make exceptions to these age limits.
Exclusively productions of German origin come into question for this prize, though this does not rule out international television broadcasts which have been produced with the fundamental participation of German commissioning parties where the majority share was in German hands. For 2010, for example, these broadcasts must have been aired on German television in 2009.
Among those entitled to submit nominations for the “Günter Strack Television Prize” for up-and-coming talent are the major broadcasters in Germany, the section “Television” from the Alliance of German Producers – Film & Television, the German Federal Association of Directors, and the German Federal Association for Casting.
The “Günter Strack Television Prize” was created in memory of this great actor. The founding members of the circle of friends include well-known representatives of the media industry.
